REQUIREMENTS |
| International Umpire (IU) |
An active umpire with at least two years experience as a National Umpire. Must be
nominated to the ITTF by USA Table Tennis and pass an ITTF-given exam. |

National Umpire (NU) |
Awarded to umpires who pass a written and oral exam, have been a Regional Umpire for a
minimum of one year, meet necessary experience qualifications and are recommended by
USATT Officials Committee. |

Regional Umpire (RU) |
Awarded to umpires who pass a written and oral exam, have been a Club Umpire for a
minimum of one year and meet necessary experience qualifications. |
|
Club Umpire (CU) |
The first umpire level that is earned by taking a written exam and being evaluated by a
Tournament Referee (who is at least a Regional Umpire). |
|
Tournament Referee |
All International, National or Regional Umpires are considered Tournament
Referees. |
|
International Referee (IR) |
Certified by the ITTF. Must be a USATT-certified National Referee for at least two years
and be recommended by the USATT Officials Committee. |
|
National Referee (NR) |
Must be an ITTF-certified International Umpire for at least two years, be approved by the USATT
Officials Committee and pass a three-part oral and written test. |
|
Certified Referee (CR) |
A qualified umpire of any rank who has passed the written CR exam. |
