Having failed to live up to the imagined expectations of others, I suddenly felt a great sense of freedom. I spent the next year and a half taking courses part time at the University of NH., practicing buddhist meditation, working a variety of part time jobs and starting some of my life long obsessions. Summer 1980.

My grades were slightly better this time, although not stellar. Once again, I had a good time and met some more friends who I continue to stay in touch with today. My future ice dancing partner Susan in 1982. Susan with second daughter Natalie 1999Gio lives in japan with his wife keiku. He writes for the Japan times and is a musician and DJ. Gio in 1982. This picture was taken at Yoyogi Park in Tokyo when I visited in 1993.
